BRES 8th grade boys win championship
The Boothbay Region Elementary School eighth grade boys basketball team won the Busline League Large School championship in a squeaker over Medomak, 55-54, on Friday evening, Jan. 29 in Thomaston.
The BRES seventh grade girls lost in their championship bid to Oceanside, 25-18, on Friday afternoon, Jan. 29 in Rockland.
For the Boothbay boys, Hunter Crocker scored 31 points, followed by Nicholas Morley with 13, Michael Cusumano with eight, Will Perkins with two and Michael Hollowell with two.
Medomak was led by Connor Simmons with 15 points, Gabe Allaire with 13 and Jordan Powell with 11.
For the BRES girls, Rachel Gentry scored eight points, followed by two points each by Jaelyn Crocker, Sydney Welch, Haley Abbott, Madison Hughes and Kyla Taylor.
Oceanside was led by Grace Woodman with 19 points.
