Medomak, Winterport win basketball tournaments
The Medomak 8 team from Waldoboro won the 37th annual Boothbay Region YMCA Classic basketball tournament and Winterport won the 42nd annual Rotary girls tournament over the past weekend in Boothbay Harbor. Seven teams competed in the Classic, held at the YMCA and six teams competed in the Rotary girls tournament held at Boothbay Region Elementary School.

Medomak 8 came out of the losers' bracket and, playing their third straight game on Sunday, defeated the host Boothbay team, 51-36, in the championship game. Gabe Allair, the tournament MVP, scored 24 points in the title game, followed by teammate Griffin Hooper with eight. Hunter Crocker and Michael Cusumano each scored 10 points to lead Boothbay. Medomak had lost to Boothbay earlier in the tournament.
To get to the championship game, Medomak defeated Medomak 7, 36-22, and third-place Skowhegan, 41-38.
Boothbay (3-1) defeated Hall-Dale, Medomak 8 and Skowhegan to get to the championship game.
Hall-Dale was presented with the tournament sportsmanship trophy.
Two-Ball champions were Boothbay's Hunter Crocker and Mike Hallowell with 51 points, followed by Skowhegan's Carter Hunt and Chase Carey with 42 points, and Camden's Drew Minery and Joshua Pearse with 29 points.

Rotary girls recap
Led by tournament most valuable player Alydia Brillant, Winterport defeated Camden Hills, 29-24, in the championship game of the Rotary girls tournament. Boothbay finished third in the tournament after losing to Camden, 27-22.
Winterport defeated Camden, 20-6, in its first game, Medomak, 38-30, in its second game, and Boothbay to reach the championship against Camden.
Boothbay defeated Lincoln, 35-17, to open the tournament, before falling to Winterport, 24-20, and then Camden.
Medomak was presented with the tournament sportsmanship trophy.
Hot shot winners were Boothbay's Maddy Faulkingham and Katie Larson with 39 points, followed by Winterport's Alydia Brillant and Abbie Worthley with 35 points, and Medomak's Cheyenne Nash and Kayla Donlin with 23 points
