Seahawks earn conference honors; Gorey voted player of the year
The Mountain Valley Conference coaches recently chose their 2016 spring sports all-star teams, players of the year, coaches of the year and academic all-stars. Several Boothbay Region High School athletes were honored.
For the third straight year, Boothbay Region High School's Nick Gorey was named Player of the Year in boys tennis. Gorey, along with teammate Duncan Drapeau, was named to the first team all-star team. Daniel Drummond was named to the second-team all-star team, and receiving honorable mention for the boys tennis all-stars were Dima Gosselin and Griffin Kane.
In girls track, Angie Perkins was named a first-team all-star, while teammates Samantha Carter, Hannah Morley and Lisa Pawlowski were named to the second team. Coach Nick Scott won co-Coach of the Year with Monmouth's Norm Thombs. Receiving honorable mention were Meghan Oakes, Loren Genrich, Sydney Mercier and Olivia Paolillo.
In boys track, Abel Bryer was named a first-team all-star. Receiving honorable mention were Liam Conlin, Blake Erhard, Kyle Ames, Draco Peaslee, Shane Johnson and Matthew Burnham.
In girls tennis, Mackenzie Colby was named a first-team all-star. Receiving honorable mention was Angela Machon.
In baseball, receiving honorable mention were Cameron Crocker and Carter Babcock.
The Seahawks named academic all-stars were Samantha Carter, Mackenzie Colby, Angela Machon, Hannah Morley, Lisa Pawlowski and Gabriel Purin.
