The Boothbay Harbor Yacht Club Junior sailors have just completed a highly successful week of statewide competition. At the prestidgious Maine State Opti championship, Emma Van der Veen, out of 43 competitors, finished second and Hamilton Barclay finished third. Hamilton was also adjudged first in his age bracket.

In that event Cyrus Blake, Della Hahn, Toby Clarkson, Ruth Schoenthal and Archer Carleton all sailed in the Green fleet in the event which was held at the Portland Yacht Club.

In the Maine State 420 championships sailed at Blue Hill, Jax Van der Veen and Aidan Clark

placed third while Hamilton Barclay and Henry Currier placed 12th and Gabby Boord and Ella Beauregard finished 15th out of 20 competitors.

This week, eight BHYC sailors will be competing at the Harraseeket Youth Regatta with results in too late for publication. The J22 team of Gabby, Ella, Henry and Hamilton (all year round region residents and High School sailing team members) will race in a postponed event from last week.
