The ‘gang of six’ brings home tennis medals
The Boothbay region “gang of six” traveled to the Mid Coast Recreational Center in Rockport for the Tennis Skills Competion on Aug.17. There were 86 participants. Boothbay region’s team did very well. Skills have improved.
New to the sport, focused and driving, was Coyle Lawler who received the silver. Anthony Angelico’s volleys went very well giving him the gold. Both Lawler and Angelico were in the 11 and under category.
In the 12-15 year old category Boothbay took all three top medals. John “Piper’s Son” Rankin had a very good follow through and took the bronze. Vincent Giles was able to deliver well and was awarded the silver. Valerie Giles, who has been getting a double boost this summer working on her skills at the Boothbay Harbor Yacht Club, took home the gold putting it all together.
In the 16-21 year old category Blake Chadwick settled down his swing and was able to come away with the silver medal.
Both the coach and team still have much to work on, but couldn’t have been prouder of their sportsmanship, behavior, and all that metal!
