Lady Seahawks topple Mountain Valley
The Boothbay Region High School field hockey team took advantage of Mountain Valley being perhaps a bit road weary from its two and a half hour trip from Rumford on Friday afternoon, scoring three goals in the first eight minutes of play and hanging on for a 4-2 victory at Perkins Field.
Sydney Meader scored first on an unassisted goal at the 27:14 mark. Two minutes later, Chloe Arsenault, on a nice feed from Meader, made the score 2-0. Boothbay’s third goal was scored by Kayla Lewis, unassisted, at 22:44.
Lewis’ goal kind of woke up Mountain Valley as the Falcons scored their first goal about four seconds later with Marissa Crosby putting the ball in the goal off a pass from Breanna Burgess.
The final goal of the half was scored by the Falcons’ Kassie Thibodeau off a pass from Abby Harding at 13:36.
Page Brown scored Boothbay’s final goal at the 26:33 mark of the second half on a pass from Arsenault.
Boothbay had 16 shots on goal while Mountain Valley had nine.
Boothbay improved to 4-1-1 with the victory and is in second place in the North C division. Mountain Valley dropped to 2-4 and is in eighth place in the South C division.
