Seahawks hold first home meet
The Boothbay Region High School Seahawks swim team faced off against the Camden High School Windjammers in their first home meet of the season of Friday, Dec. 9.
The team’s first place came from team captain Evy Case, who also qualified for states in the 200-yard freestyle with her time of 2:38.99. Also qualifying for states was new swimmer Rowan Kristan, who qualified in the 200-yard freestyle with a second-place time of 2:11.49.
Case also took a third place in the girls’ 100-yard freestyle, which Ashley Ames also placed in at sixth. Molly Thibault came in fifth and Annie Bryer in sixth in the 50-yard freestyle. The girls’ 200-yard medley relay team took a fifth place, while the girls’ 200-yard freestyle relay team took fourth. Kristan placed fifth in the 500-yard freestyle.
“We’ve got nine swimmers in total on the team this year,” said co-coach Linda Strout. She coaches alongside her husband Don Strout. “Several swimmers are back from last year, and we’re excited for a great season.”
The Strouts also coach the Lincoln Academy Eagles, who join the Seahawks at every practice and meet.
