Wrestlers defeat Oak Hill, lose to Lisbon

The Boothbay Region High School wrestling team had an away meet in Lisbon Falls on Wednesday Dec. 14.

This meet consisted of three teams. Boothbay faced Oak Hill first and then Lisbon High School. Boothbay had only three matches against Oak Hill. Wrestlers Nick Labonte, Dylan Peters and Ben Rumney wrestled hard and Boothbay was victorious, 36-24.

The second meet for the Seahawks, against Lisbon, ended with Lisbon winning 60-24. Boothbay had eight exciting matches. The Seahawk wrestlers gave their opponents a tough battle. Brandon Andrews, who wrestles in the 182-pound weight class, got the first win for the Seahawks, pinning his opponent with 1:13 left in the first period. In the 195-pound weight class, Cameron Crocker wrestled his way to a win. Crocker was able to pin his opponent early in the second period. Micheal Ripley wasted no time getting a quick pin in the first period of his match after just 37 seconds. The Seahawks' final victory in this meet was Alex Bryer who won by forfeit.

The team's next schedule meet will be a tournament on Saturday, Dec. 17 at Mountain Valley High School.
