Boothbay Nordic teams place second and third
The Boothbay Region High School boys and girls Nordic ski team competed Wednesday, Jan. 9 at the Black Mountain Ski Resort in Rumford.
The girls team finished in third place with 48 points. Dirigo took first place with 17 points while Monmouth's 32 were good enough for a second-place finish. Mountain Valley rounded out the teams with 68 points in fourth place.
The boys' score of 35 placed them only behind Dirigo (21 points) and ahead of third place Monmouth (49 points) and fourth place Mountain Valley (71).
Robert Campbell led the way for the Seahawk boys as he finished with a time of 19 minutes and four seconds for fifth place. Alex Owen (19:47.1) finished seventh, Benn Scully (20:48.1) was 11th, and Kyler Carty (20:56.4) was 12th to round out Boothbay's scoring.
The rest of the Boothbay boys squad stayed close together in the standings.
Dan Murray (23:10.7) was 20th, David Machon (24:09.9) was 21st and Raymond Perry (24:13) was 22nd. Cameron White (25:15.4) was 25th, Kyle Alamo (26:47.9) 26th, Jack Hasch (26:54.9) 27th, Trystan Mericer (28:17.7) was 29th, with Phil Owen (29:27.6) finishing behind him in 30th.
Sophia Thayer was the Lady Seahawks top finisher. She was able to finish in fourth place with a time of 22:15.9.
Arden McSwain finished in 11th place with a time of 24:05.7. Maya Schwehm (27:46.9) was 17th, Shaylee Sibley (28:28.8) was 19th and Angela Machon was 24th with a time of (31:56.4).
