Boothbay drives past Dirigo
Junior Page Brown poured in 21 points and the Lady Seahawks basketball team improved to 14-1 with a 49-26 win over the visiting Dirigo Cougars Tuesday night, Jan. 31.
Boothbay jumped out to a 14-4 lead after one quarter, as Dirigo tried to be patient on offense against the taller Boothbay squad. The Lady Seahawks led at the half, 24-9, and 37-16 after three quarters, as the Cougars had trouble scoring against Boothbay’s zone defense.
Sophomore Faith Blethen was back in the line-up for Boothbay after missing a few games due to a foot injury. She contributed nine points off the bench and senior guard Kate Friant scored eight.
Dirigo (4-12) had two players score five points, Alexa Varnum and Olivia Noyes.
Boothbay is scheduled to play Thursday, Feb. 2 at Oak Hill. The Lady Seahawks defeated the Raiders at home, 56-29, on Jan. 12.
