Boothbay crushes Cougars
Kyle Ames, Carter Babcock and Eli Gudroe each scored 15 points as the Boothbay Region Seahawk boys varsity basketball team cruised to a 77-38 win at Dixfield Tuesday night, Jan. 31.
Ames had 10 first half points to help the Seahawks open a 34-16 halftime lead. The Seahawks did not let up and outscored Dirigo 44-21 in the second half. The Seahawks shot an amazing 62 percent from the floor and 76 percent from the foul line, their best shooting percentage for the season, according to Coach I.J. Pinkham via email.
Babcock was the leading rebounder for Boothbay with 12.
“It was a great team effort, we played solid defense, rebounded the ball well, and put a complete game together," said Pinkham.
The victory improved Boothbay’s record to 9-7 with two games left in the regular season. The team will host Oak Hill Friday night and play at Wiscasset on Tuesday. The Seahawks have defeated both teams already this season.
Cooper Chiasson led Dirigo (4-12) with 11 points.
