Boothbay lacrosse topples Noble 17-11
Boothbay’s Kate Friant scored the first of her five goals 55 seconds into the game May 13, as the Seahawks posted their fifth win defeating Noble High School, 17-11, in North Berwick. A quick score is nothing new for the Seahawks’ offensive attack. Scoring after winning control of the opening draw or following a goal has been common.
Center midfielder Lincoln Hamblett won the opening draw leading to Friant’s early goal. Boothbay coach Donna Jordan credits Hamblett for her team’s gaining an early advantage in games. “The success against Class A Noble starts with Lincoln Hamblett’s draws on Saturday. Her ball placement allowed us early success in scoring 10 first half goals.”
Boothbay’s leading scorer was Sydney Meader with seven. Jackie McLoon had two goals, Chloe Arsenault had one goal and an assist, and Nicole Clarke and Hamblett had one goal each. Boothbay also played with a backup goalkeeper. Alexis Davison was in goal and made 17 saves.
Boothbay is now 5-2. Noble falls to 2-5. Boothbay’s next game is Wednesday, May 17 against Lawrence in Fairfield. Boothbay defeated Lawrence May 4, 17-6, at Sherman Field.
