Lady Seahawks attend Gold Rush camp
From July 6-8, 11 members of the Lady Seahawks high school basketball program attended Maine Gold Rush basketball camp on a hot and humid weekend at Thomas College.
Gold Rush was established in 1999 by camp directors Bruce Hunt and Dave Poulin and is a highlight for many teams’ summer programs in Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont and the Maritime Provinces of Canada.
Boothbay was one of 27 teams competing in the 2012 edition of Gold Rush. The girls played 10 games, ran through situations, participated in drill stations, listened to lectures, and interacted with other schools in team building exercises.
Seniors Alex Clarke and Sarah Caron and sophomore Morgan Crocker were named to the West League All-Star team, and freshmen Avae Traina and Nicole Rice were members of the winning “Pickle Ball” team.
In tourney action, the Lady Seahawks bowed out to Maranacook on a deep buzzer-beating three. It was a tough way to end the weekend, but overall it was a great experience.
You can catch the Lady Seahawks in action this summer right here in Boothbay Harbor as the team will be hosting the second annual Lobster Jam on Friday, July 20, and Saturday, July 21.
Teams participating include Boothbay, CMFB (MA), Cony, Central, Falmouth, Poland, Schenck, South Portland, Waynflete and Westbrook, all vying for the crown of Lobster Jam Champion. For the complete game schedule, visit the Lady Seahawks Basketball page on Facebook.
This is a great opportunity to catch the team in action and show your support as the Lady Seahawks wrap up an outstanding season of summer hoops.
