42nd Annual Fishermen’s Festival, April 24-26

During the weekend of Fishermen’s Festival, April 25 and 26, anyone who adopts a cat or dog from Lincoln County Animal Shelter will receive a $25 gift certificate to Two Salty Dogs Pet Outfitters in Boothbay Harbor.

“We tried to do this in January, but a huge storm hit and the animal shelter ended up being closed,” owner Don Kingsbury said. “It's time to try again and help the people that open their hearts and homes to an animal in need.”

Pot Buoy Decorating: By age groups: Young children and adults. Stop by The First bank, pick up your plain pot buoy, decorate it and drop it back off at The First in Boothbay Harbor. You’ll need to use your own supplies for the decorating. Buoys will be judged by the community downtown Saturday morning. Prizes awarded for different age groups. (Pot buoys are $5). Boothbay Harbor’s annual Fishermen’s Festival gained a lot of popularity during the early 1990s when fishing-related events were held at the elementary school, more people participated, and records of timed events were kept and were vigorously challenged by competitors.

The Blizzard of 2015 didn’t stop the Lions from holding the Jan. 28 meeting.

The meeting room was decorated in the Super Bowl theme by Lions Tom and Karen to help promote the current building fund fundraiser “Super Bowl Pool.” Most members took their usual seats not caring if their napkin was “Patriots” or “Seattle Seahawks” although a couple hesitated — all in good fun!
