Author Kay Tobler Liss to appear at BHML
Maine author Kay Tobler Liss will give a talk and reading about her new novel, “Coming Home,” at the Boothbay Harbor Memorial Library at 4 Oak St., on Saturday, Sept. 21 at 11 a.m.
The novel follows the journeys of four generations of a family who return to cherished places in nature from their youth and uncover buried secrets about themselves. The special places include a meadow, a pine grove, a river, and mountain valley. The most valuable lesson they learn is that nature can not only be a source of beauty and solace but of healing, transformation and expanding compassion for all life.
In a Booklife Publishers’ Weekly review, Tobler Liss’ novel was described as a family story with a “strong focus on the beauty of nature and art,” and one readers “will find resonant, with engaging, believable characters and a plot that’s drawn from life and stirs real tears.”
Her first novel, “The Last Resort,” published in 2020, also has a theme of the healing power of nature. With all the important issues in the world today, she feels our care for the environment is the most urgent, and a good way to encourage people to care is to tell stories that reveal how we are connected in deep, intrinsic ways.
She will have copies of her book to sign.
