Tickets are still available for Boothbay Region Land Trust’s (BRLT) The Great Hike event, Saturday, Sept. 27 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. This family-friendly festival will take place at Ovens Mouth Preserve and will include a non-competitive hike, scavenger hunt, barbecue, kids’ games, live music and beer.
The hike will begin at 11 a.m. from Ovens Mouth East Preserve off of the Dover Extension Road in Boothbay. Hikers can participate in the trail scavenger hunt and, upon completion, will be entered into a drawing to win various prizes such as a $50 gift certificate to Two Salty Dogs, $25 gift card to Dunkin Donuts, $50 certificate to Janson’s Clothing Store and more.
At 1 p.m., the barbecue will begin on the private farm which abuts Ovens Mouth East. Food, catered by McSeagull’s Restaurant, will include pulled pork sandwiches, vegetarian chili, and coleslaw. Various baked goods, apple cider and Geary’s beer will also be served to round out this fall feast.
While enjoying this delicious spread from 1 to 3 p.m., attendees will be treated to the funky, cool music of the Spaceheaters. For those not up for dancing, there will be plenty of kids games to play and enjoy, which will also result in fun prizes.
Tickets of $15/individual, $25/couple and $30/family, can be purchased through the Boothbay Region Land Trust office at 137 Townsend Avenue, 207-633-4818, brownpapertickets.com or purchased at the event. All proceeds benefit the BRLT mission to conserve for the public benefit the natural habitat, scenic beauty, and working land of the Boothbay Region.
