Boothbay Harbor Rotary Club
A fun time was had by all at last Thursday's Oktoberfest celebration. The Clubhouse was decorated with Oktoberfest colors and banners with a long table down the center covered in Oktoberfest tablecloths. All the games sure had us laughing at ourselves (and others) the Fabulous Prizes were motivating but, alas, only the top four game players went home with the prizes.. We had several guests sharing the fun and one of them, Jane Duchaiine, won the Fabulous Prize for best costume. It was indeed a fabulous costume, justly awarded first prize of about twelve entries. Our chef, Amy Ronan, provided a real Oktoberfest dinner of bratwurst, potato salad, beets, sauerkraut and to finish it off German Chocolate Cake. Thank you to The Fun Committee for your hard work and inspiration.
As most of you know, Marty Peak Helman continues to serve as one of the twelve trustees worldwide for The Rotary Foundation through 2026, a three-year term. This was a very competitive and incredible honor and hard work for Marty as one of the international RI trustees, the first from our area.
Even more impressive, the Rotary International Trustees, a different set of trustees, who are the General Officers of Rotary International, also worldwide, have just let Marty know this past week that she has been selected amongst many candidates for Director from Zone 32 for a different worldwide, three-year term from 2027 through 2029, official this December. Marty’s term will be from the date she completes her trustee work, presumably at the end of 2026, as a Rotary International Officer through 2029. Congratulations, Marty.
This Thursday Caroline Earle Ivens will be our speaker, and will be inspiring and telling us how to lead a happier and healthier life. Caroline is the Healthy Living Director at the Boothbay Region YMCA. Moving from Boston to Boothbay in 2021, Caroline comes to the peninsula with over 15 years of experience in the health and wellness industry. From working at Harvard Business School's gym, Shad Hall, to coaching students as the Strength Coach and Fitness Director at Newton Country Day School, Caroline's passion for healthy living is evident. Her love of connection and coaching keeps Caroline inspired every day; whether in a spin class or working with a one-on-one client. Outside of the Y, Caroline is a mom to 3-year-old Cooper and 9-month-old, Rhett. For fun, Caroline, her husband Sean and the kids love to be by the ocean; whether by boat or a trip to the beach.
The Big, Gray Rotary Barn is open every Saturday till sometime in December, 8:30 to 11 a.m. We are accepting donations just call or text 207-619-1417 for pickup or drop off plans. Your donations support the many projects of the Boothbay Harbor Rotary Club.
Join us any Thursday at 6 p.m. for a dinner meeting at our clubhouse at 66 Montgomery Road. You’ll be glad you did.
