Canadians reportedly spent couple nights camping at Sawyer's Pond
Southport selectmen received a Sept. 25 report about campers spending "a couple nights" on Sawyer's Pond during their meeting. Selectman Gerry Gamage reported a resident sent a letter about a campsite and a vehicle with Quebec license plates.
"We checked it out, but they were long gone by the time we got there," Gamage said.
In other action, selectmen sent responses to two questions posed by Regional Emergency Management Agency Director Dave Cody. On Sept. 18, Cody inquired about the municipal procurement process and insurance policies. Selectmen contacted administrative assistant Ashlea Tibbetts for clarification on the policies.
"We told him our procurement policy’s the state policy, and the town sent him our insurance information," Gamage said.
Selectmen approved two town hall rentals. The Vanderlaan family received approval to rent the hall on Jan. 11, 2025. Becky Singer received rental approval for a Dec. 3 Garden Club event.
Selectmen meet next at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 2 in the town hall.
