Ocean Point
Sadly this week is our last full week before seasonal water is turned off. Many of us here at Ocean Point agree that it was a wonderful summer and definitely one to be remembered.
Despite many of us packing up to leave some Ocean Point friends returned for one last visit. Andrew and Linda Cianciolo were here with friends showing them what a special area this is. Andrew is the brother of Nancy Smith and brother in law to our long time former AD Andy.\
Saturday Oct. 5 was a busy one here; Ocean Pointers gathered to assist in preparing to shut the Casino for the winter bringing furniture and other items that require storage into the Casino. Thanks to all who participated.
Maine Track and Tennis will come to take down the nets and the lines on the courts soon, thank you to the tennis committee for assisting in this.
Congratulations to Don Demers and Jackie Jones who exchanged vows this past Saturday with many friends and loved ones in attendance.
Also this past Saturday many family and friends gathered at the Carriage House to celebrate the life of Marlies Boyd. I, like many of you, have many fond and happy memories of Marlies and we were very glad to be able to share them with her family.
As I finish writing this column we are experiencing some much-needed rain with more unsettled weather forecasted this week. The temperatures have been so mild this fall that many summer gardens are still in bloom, ours included.
The skiffs are slowly disappearing from the dinghy dock, as are the remaining boats on moorings.
The holiday weekend will be a busy one as residents prepare to close cottages and homes.
This weekend also marks the annual Fall Foliage Festival at the Railway Museum and the Pumpkin Fest in Damariscotta, both fun-filled events with lots of activities planned. It’s often a chance to meet up with neighbors for the last time of the season.
Speaking of holidays, Christmas decorations are already popping up in stores. If you are in need of gifts our store on the website has some wonderful clothing items for you to purchase.
As you prepare to leave, drop off unused food items to the Food Pantry.
If you are traveling this weekend, have a safe trip to wherever your destination may be.
Please send your news to me at maryellenbertrand@gmail.com throughout the winter so we can stay connected with Ocean Point friends and news.
Enjoy the holiday weekend!
