Southport reviews worker’s comp, pier application
Southport selectmen on July 31 reviewed the worker’s compensation audit results for this year. The board said the town will pay $9,527 for the insurance to cover the roughly 60 town employees. According to the board, anyone who collects a W-2 from the town is covered, including staff from the library, animal control, school, fire, public works and the selectmen.
The board also reviewed correspondence from the Department of Agriculture, Conservation and Forestry about maintenance to a pier, ramp and float at 55 Landing Road, Townsend Gut. The float was expanded from 10 feet by 24 feet to 12 feet by 24 feet, now requiring a submerged lands lease according to the documents. The notification involved an after-the-fact application, and allowing comment before Aug. 6.
In other business, the board decided the Southport Climate Action Team could use the town hall Aug. 29 for a public workshop.
