June referendum voter turnout just over 20% for Boothbay, Boothbay Harbor
Voter turnout dipped June 11 from April’s Community School District $30 million referendum. In April, 1,014 Boothbay and 862 Boothbay Harbor residents cast ballots. The 1,876 voters were significantly higher than the combined 1,057 (Boothbay, 639 and Boothbay Harbor, 418) on June 11, according to voting totals from both town clerks.
In Boothbay, Town Clerk Andrea Lowery reported voting was steady throughout the day. “It was pretty typical with people voting more at 8 a.m., noon and just after 3 p.m. There was hardly anyone after 6 p.m.,” she said. “There was never a time when more than three people were voting.” Boothbay voter turnout was 22.5% with 639 of 2,835 registered voters participating.
In Boothbay Harbor, Town Clerk Michelle Farnham reported 418 of 1,979 registered voters cast ballots or 21.1%. “It was pretty typical turnout, but there were times it picked up unexpectedly in short bursts,” she said.
There were no June 2023 state referendum results in Boothbay or Boothbay Harbor. In 2022, the referendum only had primary elections for the state legislature, federal offices and gubernatorial candidates. In Boothbay, 478 residents cast ballots in June 2022. In Boothbay Harbor, 396 residents voted.
