Heads of the Harbor fundraiser begins Labor Day
In 2024 the National Institute of Cancer states there will be over 9,600 children of childhood cancer and that it continues to be one of the leading causes of deaths in children.
Heads of the Harbor salon, at 52 Union Street in Boothbay Harbor is planning its second annual fundraiser in support of childhood cancer. They kick off Monday, Sept. 2 with a Cut-A-Thon from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Haircuts will be by donation only.
The remainder of the month will be door prizes galore! Weekly raffles, door prizes and more. Donations in honor of Jameson Brooks, who last his battle with childhood cancer in 2022, will be accepted the entire month of September. Funds raised will support the local Special Olympics and Maine Children’s Cancer Foundation. Last year the salon raised over $6,000 and hopes to raise over $10,000 this year.
Feel free to stop by the salon with your donation at any time during regular business hours, whether you have an appointment or not. If you would like to donate and are unable to make it to the salon, please feel free to reach out at (207) 315-2025.
The raffle winners will be drawn at the end of the business day on Monday, Sept. 30 and winners will be contacted.
