And what better place to celebrate our favorite crustacean than at The Claw Down? We couldn’t put on this event without the culinary brilliance of our chefs. Here’s a look at the incredible talent bringing their best lobster bites to the competition:

Boathouse Bistro - Chef Karin Guerin Meet Chef Karin Guerin, born and raised in Austria. Her culinary journey began early, learning from her mother. She attended culinary school at 15 and worked at a Michelin 3-star restaurant in Austria before moving to the US. She has been the head chef at The Boathouse Bistro Tapas Bar & Restaurant in Boothbay Harbor, Maine for 19 years, where she continues to share her passion for cooking.

Boothbay Craft Brewery - Chef Lori Mitchell Chef Lori Mitchell treasures her upbringing in Maine, learning rustic recipes from her grandmothers. She worked in local restaurants from a young age and later pursued a dental profession. In 2006, she and her family realized their dream of owning a neighborhood tavern and brewpub. Since 2013, Lori has worked with amazing chefs, crafting playful and healthy pub-style fare using traditional Maine recipes.

Bridgehouse BBQ - Chef Dan Pangburn Dan is fired up about bringing his bite to The Claw Down! At Bridge House BBQ, they serve the tastiest grub, using farm-fresh, locally sourced ingredients. Their mission is simple: to celebrate the rich flavors of Maine with tender cuts of meat and bountiful harvests from neighboring farms.

Coastal Prime - Chef Justin Doyle Returning to throw down at The Claw Down is Chef Justin Doyle of Coastal Prime. Last year, Chef Justin brought home the 2nd place Judges’ Choice with a Poached Lobster dish. We can’t wait to see what culinary delight he’ll wow us with this year!

Harborside 1901 - Chef Hakan Anlar Judge’s Choice 2022 Winners Harborside 1901 are back at Claw Down with Chef Hakan Anlar. Known for the best sushi and a from-scratch kitchen featuring local seafood, Harborside 1901 offers something special for every dietary need. Their full menu and elegant wine selection promise an extraordinary dining experience.

Marcel's Submarine Shop & NEAT Whisky Bar - Michael Morissette Owner/Operator Michael Morissette is coming to The Claw Down! Expect to be impressed by the creativity and flavor that Michael brings to his ever-changing fresh and seasonal menus!

Mine Oyster - Chef Ralph Smith Returning to defend his title as the 2023 Judge’s Choice Winner is Chef Ralph Smith of Mine Oyster has been competing with Claw Down since the beginning! He says it took 10 years but he finally won last year. 

Paul's Bistro - Chef David Wohrle  Grew up working in his parents' restaurant in a small town on the East Side of Chicago. With experience in amazing restaurants, hotels, and clubs throughout the states and the Caribbean, Chef David now brings his passion for food to Maine! 

The Whale’s Tale & Seafarer’s Pub - Chef Brandi Willis Her passion for food, influenced by her mother and grandmothers, has grown through her travels as a military child. She brings a creative vision to the competition and looks forward to sharing it with you.

Topside Inn - Chefs Mark Osborn & Buzz Makarewicz A wonderful surprise addition, Topside Inn stepped up to help fill a last-minute scheduling conflict. Chefs Mark Osborn and Buzz Makarewicz are ready to tantalize your taste buds with their award-winning culinary creativity.
