Local libraries for every bookworm

    From ocean shores to scenic restaurants, the Boothbay region is filled with picture-perfect spots to get comfortable and enjoy a great read. Here is a short list of area libraries to find your next page turner.  

    Boothbay Harbor Memorial Library. In the heart of downtown Boothbay Harbor, this library, celebrating its 100th year in 2024, is a town landmark. Throughout the year, it offers regular community programming for adults and children.     Southport Memorial Library. A charming library at the edge of Southport, this is a true gem of the island. Don’t let its unimposing size fool you, it holds a collection of over 30,000 books, audio books and other multimedia. 1032 Hendricks Hill Road, Southport. (207) 633-2741.  

    Wiscasset Public Library. The oldest library on this list, Wiscasset Public Library was built in 1805 as a bank. It later housed local government offices and was a private residence before it became a library in 1929. Today, visitors can enjoy its classic architecture while relaxing in one of its many cozy nooks or browsing the impressive local history and genealogy collection. 21 High St., Wiscasset.
