Bay Chamber Concerts presents Palaver Strings day of music in Rockport’s Union Hall on Saturday, April 22. The morning begins at 10 with a special Yoga class, hosted by instructors Missy Hatch and Rachel Nixon, who will choreograph the movements inspired by the live music performance. This offering is free and open to all levels, ages and abilities.

On Saturday at 6 p.m., Palaver Strings will present the second in Bay Chamber’s Music@Dusk series, sponsored by Bangor Savings Bank. Palaver will be joined by longtime friends, the Gawler Sisters and Bennet Konesni for an eclectic program that includes music from many genres.

From New England’s rolling hills and lush forests, to its craggy shores and rock-filled fields, this highly accomplished group of musicians comes together in a cross genre celebration inspired by this diverse landscape. The program ranges from home-grown folk music, to the lush romance of Dvořák’s impression of the New World. Artistic Director of Palaver, Maya French, Palaver’s artistic director says, “With strong roots in Maine and New England, this concert is meant to portray our love and care for our natural surroundings.”

Palaver Strings, a musician-led string orchestra, was formed in 2014 by a group of young musicians from the Boston area dedicated to the collaborative interpretation of masterworks of the classical repertoire. Each member of Palaver Strings is passionate about taking classical music beyond the concert hall to engage with diverse and new audiences. For more on the group, visit www.palaverstrings.org.

Music@Dusk is an hour-long performance where concert goers can enjoy a glass of wine in the intimate setting of Union Hall at 24 Central Street in Rockport.

Tickets are $30 for adults and $10 for those under the age of 25. For more information please visit www.baychamberconcerts.org or call 207-236-2823 or (888) 707-2770; e-mail info@baychamberconcerts.org; or go online at www.baychamberconcerts.org.
