‘Transformations,’ a new body of work by John M.T. Seitzer

A look at before and remaking the now. Landscapes provide a background and a foundation for the refashioned paintings that make up the "Transformations" series. Each image starts with a recognizable scene, either local and or from away.

A pattern of dots and dashes of color overlays the underpainting. Sometimes the colors relate to the base composition. Other times dissimilar hues are chosen to create a completely new color palette. Many transformed paintings allow the viewer to simultaneously see the landscape beneath together with the abstract surface pattern. Two different artistic depictions in one work of art.

Several modifications of the original images resulted in non-representational (or non objective) images, where the original image was completely obliterated with colorful dots and dashes.

John M.T. Seitzer's "Transformations" will be on view at Joy To The Wind Gallery now through July and will be featured at an artist reception on Friday, July 7. All are invited to come and see the final metamorphosis of the many transformations.
